What Flowers Are in Season This Winter in Australia?

Winter flowers have a quiet kind of beauty about them. Rich tones, interesting textures, and longer-lasting blooms make winter one of our favourite seasons for flowers here at Posie Club.

One of the best things about choosing seasonal flowers is that they naturally reflect the time of year. Winter bouquets tend to feel softer, moodier, and a little more textured, which suits the cooler months perfectly.

If you’re wondering what flowers are in season during winter in Australia, here are a few favourites you’ll often find appearing in winter flower bouquets.

Hellebores

Known for their delicate drooping heads and soft tones, hellebores are one of winter’s most loved flowers. They bring a beautiful softness to seasonal arrangements and thrive during cooler weather.

Camellias

A winter garden favourite. Camellias flower throughout the colder months and add fullness and colour to winter bouquets.

Stock

Stock flowers are loved for their scent as much as their texture. They add height, softness, and fragrance to seasonal winter arrangements.

Snapdragons

Winter snapdragons bring shape and movement into bouquets while holding beautifully in the vase.

Sweet Peas

One of the most anticipated flowers during cooler months. Sweet peas have a delicate scent and a soft, romantic feel that works beautifully in seasonal bouquets.

Why Seasonal Flowers Matter

At Posie Club, we work closely with the seasons and use locally grown flowers wherever possible. Choosing flowers that are naturally in bloom means:

  • fresher flowers

  • better vase life

  • more natural movement and texture

  • supporting local Australian growers

Seasonal flowers also allow each bouquet to feel unique. No two weeks are ever exactly the same, which is part of what we love most about working with flowers.

Grown in Mudgee, Guided by the Seasons?

At Posie Club, seasonality is a big part of how we work. We grow many of our flowers right here in Mudgee on our micro flower farm, which means the flowers you receive are often picked just days before arriving at your door.

Because flowers naturally change with the seasons, availability shifts throughout the year. During peak growing months, we’re able to use more of our own blooms, while in quieter periods we carefully source additional flowers from trusted Australian growers nearby, including the Blue Mountains, Bathurst and Cassilis.

Working this way allows us to keep our bouquets feeling seasonal, fresh, and connected to the time of year, while still offering a beautiful variety throughout winter.

We don’t import flowers, and we don’t work with rigid bouquet formulas. Instead, each arrangement is designed around what looks best each week, using flowers chosen for their quality, texture, colour and vase life.
